February 2019

team

By Uncategorized

Here is a little post dedicated to the theme of “team”, these great people who in June 2019 will have been on a little journey together for almost 2 years. We moved up to Mo i Rana (Northern Norway)  in August 2017 to support Andreas & Tonje in their new role as the pastor couple in Familiekirka (Family Church), and half of us will be sent out to do other great things in June. We weren’t all so close when we came, but we have learned to know each other quite a bit in the last season. This is my way of preparing for change.

Here we go. Behind every happy Instagram picture, most of you know there are loads of imperfect moments, hard conversations and cries. There are also many moments too good and sacred to ever be put on social media. We have lived much life together.

We have learned that words like “expectation”, “communication”, and “vulnerability” are much easier taught about and listened to in a sermon than lived out. We have experienced seeing differences that were so painfully different, and other peoples sacrifice that was incredibly inspiring.

Nothing is perfect, but it’s safe to say that we have grown.

I think that “team” will be the thing we miss the most. Just as it in seasons the very thing that can bother us the most. Some sense of community, something you’ve built together, being known in part yet still living in the gap of longing for more.

Some wise person said that we all long to be fully known and fully loved. There can be pain caused by feeling something that is so in process, on the way, but also knowing that it may never become complete in this season.

This perfect idea of team fellowship maybe felt like how heaven will feel in the sense of being in one family, being loved for who you are, and having one pure focus. But then in the hard seasons, we felt the pain of what should have happened, how we could have been known better, how someone should have really been there, and that feeling to be all alone amongst those who should be closer.

What else can be said, but that we all have a long way to go in learning to love?

I think that God wants us to have the courage to keep going, to choose to love in our long journey of life, and to not build an ice castle around our hearts, or pretend that we are fine without the vulnerability of beautiful people close to our hearts.

Dear Jesus, help me to have courage and to be kind.
